The Man

Jesus was born over 2000 years ago in a small rural town. His mother was a poor, young, virgin girl married to a carpenter name Joseph. The first 30 years of his life were fairly normal until he began his public ministry announcing that “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour” (Luke 4:18-1). His three year ministry was unlike any seen before or since. He preached messages with great authority, teaching that God’s Kingdom was coming to earth through him, he healed those who were sick, blind and lame and even raised some from the dead. He chose twelve ordinary, uneducated men to be his apprentices and to carry on his mission.  He surrendered to the will of God his father and was crucified on a Roman cross, but on the third day he rose again, showed himself to hundreds of people and ascended into heaven where he is reigning with all authority and is now building God’s Kingdom on earth.
